"We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is an engaging and thought-provoking read that introduces readers to the world of Voulhire. This is fiction and the first novel in an ongoing series by Matthew Tysz. The author does an excellent job of building suspense and introducing new characters. Each chapter is packed with emotional depth and plot twists, making it hard to put down. To all fans of fantasy and fiction, this book will have a mark.
King Wilhelm, a hardliner ruler, when he realized a potential challenge to his power, he embarked on a decision that saw his sons leave the kingdom. The story follows when Golan, a protagonist, is from a place torn by wars and starvation. Gets onto the ship heading to 'Voulhire' to claim his inheritance. After he reaches Magnum Caelum a small town, Golan embraces a new lifestyle, however also encounters some challenges that follow a series of issues that he has to navigate. Another character Rowan, An executor of his uncle, whom Golan had met on his way. When they became close, work together hand in hand on different issues.
The narration is superb, with several points of view being used throughout the book; thus, allowing for more understanding of what is happening in Voulhire. However, I think that these characters could be developed further since sometimes they seemed a bit superficial. More so, if their pasts and wants were portrayed in depth, then readers would engage with them more closely. Nonetheless, this factor did not change what I thought about the whole work.

I should not pause I'm giving this a firm 4 stars out of 5 because Matthew Tysz. mixes the richness of fantasy with heart-pounding adventure so well.
